PRODUCT UPDATE SUMMARY (TL;DR)

Happy New Year - hopefully, you've all had a wonderful break and 2024 is off to a cracking start!

For us here at Project Flock, we’re firing on all pistons. With the final assembly and delivery of our FLOCK LIGHTS just a few months away, there’s lots to update you on. Let’s dive in…

1. PRE-PRODUCTION ASSEMBLY UNDERWAY

We’re excited to share that almost all of the components for our T2 FLOCK LIGHT Pre-Production samples have arrived, with the exemption of 1 (arriving Monday). So we’ve been madly preparing and starting assembly on these units, which we’ll be taking to the Tour Down Under in just a couple of days. This is one step away from the final production run, so it’s looking and feeling very close to the final product and we are very keen to show them off and give them a whirl!

Below is Tim putting together the electronic assemblies in the OEA facility. Based right here in Melbourne, our friends at OEA will be our assembly partners for the final production run. Electronic assembly will ultimately be done by our electronic partners Entech Electronics, however, for this sample production run, we’re doing them ourselves. You can see the use of the 3D printed jigs which we’ve designed to help speed up the process while also making sure we get accurate and consistent alignment of all the components...

Here, Marie is putting together the sample packaging. We opted to go with off-the-shelf boxes for this sample run, however the final design will be more customised.

2. EARLY ACCESS NOW OPEN

As mentioned in our last update, we are offering our Kickstarter Backers and Pre-Order Customers the opportunity to get 1 of 30 Pre-Production FLOCK LIGHT SAMPLES we are currently assembling, 3 months ahead of our delivery date. In signing up for an early sample, recipients will also be Beta Testers and can help provide much-needed feedback that will help us refine the final product before we ship them all out.

3. MOUNTING ACCESSORIES

Thanks to all of you who filled out our ‘Mounting Options Feedback’ Survey. If you haven’t yet and would still like to provide your input, you can fill it out HERE.

Based on your feedback to date, we’ve been developing a range of mounts which we’ll be adding to the website. These mounts will allow you to use your FLOCK LIGHT in the way that suits you best. 

For Kickstarter Backers, you’ll have the opportunity to add any extra mounts to your order when we send out the Backer Survey in February / March. In the meantime, here are renders of just a couple of the 4 designs we’re currently developing…

Over the next few weeks, we will be prototyping and testing these new mounts out in the field.

4. NEW WEBSITE

If you're reading this blog, then you're on our new website!

Over the last couple of months, we've been plugging away behind the scenes migrating our website over to Shopify and giving it an upgrade while we were at it! This included an exciting new photoshoot of the FLOCK LIGHT. Shout out to Node Studio and A1. Studio for their help with the website and photoshoot... we're stoked with the results and we hope you are too.

 

5. TOUR DOWN UNDER

And as mentioned we will be heading over to the Tour Down Under again this year! We’ll be getting around talking to industry partners, and distributing lights to any of our Adelaide-based backers who have successfully bid for one of our Pre-Production samples. We’ll also be trying to get as many of these samples onto bikes as possible to test them out. For those of you who are Adelaide-based, make sure you drop us a line and say hi! We love meeting our Backers.
